About dancephl
dancephl is a shared, public resource for Philadelphia dance and performance. No algorithm, no hierarchy, no gatekeeping. A free community drum circle and a ticketed ballet premiere get the same space here. Everyone posts, everyone searches, everyone benefits from the picture being more complete.
We built this because Philadelphia’s dance community is deep, diverse, and scattered across dozens of websites, Instagram accounts, and word-of-mouth networks. This is one place where all of it is visible.
How it works
Calendar events (classes, performances, workshops, social dances) are always free to post. Anyone can add theirs — organizations, collectives, independent artists, community groups. The more complete the calendar, the more useful it is for everyone.
Opportunity listings (auditions, jobs, funding, space) are paid. This is what sustains the platform and keeps it independent. Individuals pay less than organizations.
The directory is for organizations, venues, studios, and schools based in Philadelphia. Listings include details like space availability, rental rates, and programming so people can find what they need.
Where the money goes
Listing fees and subscriptions cover platform hosting, maintenance, and the annual micro-grant for emerging choreographers. We publish a transparency report each year.
Community guidelines
dancephl is for the entire Philadelphia dance community — every style, every level, every body. We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or exploitation. Listings that misrepresent pay, working conditions, or accessibility will be removed. If something looks wrong, tell us.
dancephl was started in 2026 because this community deserved a space that was its own — not a subsection of someone else’s platform, not shaped by an algorithm, not behind a paywall. The more people who post here, the more useful it becomes.
